sm.ART was founded in May 2002 in San Francisco, where I lived for over three years working at a contemporay art gallery as well as at the SFMOMA. Back in Germany, in my hometown Munich, I renovated my grandparents’ old house (literally with my very own hands), transformed it into my first exhibition space and called it sm.ART homegallery.
April 2003 saw the grand opening with a private preview for the exhibition of then San Francisco-based photographer Mona Kuhn at Galerie Charles Schumann in Munich. Many exciting shows & projects followed throughout the years. In 2005, sm.ART homegallery moved to Zurich, and is now based in Monte-Carlo since 2007. After a break to fully concentrate on my new adventure in real estate, I am now reviving sm.ART…with immense joy!
Today sm.ART is located at One Monte-Carlo, in the Carré d'Or district, the heart of Monaco.
sm.ART acted as the, in most cases, exclusive European representative of about 15 artists from both US coasts - mostly emerging, but also established contemporary artists in all media. sm.ART will continue to collaborate with most of them, but new artists are now being added to the sm.ART family.
In collaboration with galleries and exhibition spaces, sm.ART is seeking to organize and curate exhibition projects. My art curating activities are complemented by art consulting. Foremost, sm.ART is acting as independent intermediary for your art search should you wish to buy, and is equally delighted to assist should you wish to sell your works of art.
My contemporary art adventures are complemented by and based on a very traditional education: I graduated with an M.A. in Art History at LMU University in Munich, Germany, where I also worked for several art galleries and auction houses such as Ketterer Kunst and Sotheby's.

Ishan at work at sm.ART homegallery, fall 2003
In fall of 2003, I had the immense pleasure and honour to welcome San Francisco-based artist Ishan Clemenco at my house as my first Artist in Residence. Ishan created two fantastic permanent installations - a smaller, square sized one as well as a large-scale work, both in the main living room. Ishan's stay & work at sm.ART homegallery was celebrated with an opening for the show "Chalk Lines 2003 - Wall Drawing".
For the following years, it was, each single day, an outstanding experience & joy to be living with such precious gems on my walls. Thank you, Ishan!
sm.ART is part of a larger project where my knowlegde and love of art are melting together with real estate and interior design. It's called
French Riviera Home Sweet Home.
